Hot Cocoa

There are plenty of hot chocolate products out there today, but how about delicious homemade hot cocoa made with real cocoa.

Notice the four mugs.  My three close friends came over to help me whip this up.  Surprisingly, they actually helped.  Usually, they offer to help, but chit chat too much.

Let’s all watch and make weird faces while Erin adds the cocoa.

Whisk together the sugar, cocoa, salt, and water in a medium saucepan.  Stir over medium heat until this mixture boils.

Let it boil for 2 minutes, then add the milk.  Continue to heat until warm, but don’t boil.

Enjoy with some cookies or by itself, but don’t forget to share with friends.

Here’s Emily enjoying her marshmallow-laden hot cocoa.

Maggie and Erin loved the delicious hot cocoa.

1/2 cup sugar

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

pinch of salt

1/3 water

4 cups milk

Mix sugar, cooca, and salt in saucepan.  Bring mixture to boil and let boil for 2 minutes.  Stir in milk and heat, but do not boil.  Serve warm with your favorite hot cocoa topping!
